JAMB Reschedules 2025 UTME to April 24 as Registration Hits Record 2 Million

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the rescheduling of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to Thursday, April 24. The exam was initially slated to begin on Friday, April 25, across over 700 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

In a statement issued on Saturday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the date change was made to accommodate “essential commitments” involving the Board and its partner agencies.

This year’s UTME has attracted a record-breaking 2,030,627 registered candidates—the highest in the examination’s history. Among them are 41,026 applicants below the age of 16, underscoring the increasing demand for higher education in the country.

Dr. Benjamin urged candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips starting Saturday, April 19. The slip includes crucial details such as exam date, time, venue, and other information necessary for a smooth examination experience.

“All candidates are advised to visit www.jamb.gov.ng, click on ‘2025 UTME Slip Printing,’ and input their registration number to access and print their slips,” the statement read.

JAMB also advised candidates to visit their assigned centres at least a day before the exam to avoid last-minute confusion and ensure timely arrival. The Board assured that no candidate will be posted to a centre outside their chosen examination town.

Last year, over 1.9 million candidates registered for the UTME, making this year’s figure a significant milestone in JAMB’s operational history.

The 2025 UTME will now officially commence on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
