21 Months After Murdering Girlfriend, Killaboi Extradited to Nigeria to Face Justice

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully secured the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, over the murder of his girlfriend, Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. The extradition was confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement released on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

According to the statement, Nnayereugo, who had been on the run since July 2023, was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of April 19, 2025. The coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, the Force Headquarters, and the Qatari Judicial Authorities were key in the extradition process.

The tragic incident occurred on July 13, 2023, when Nnayereugo allegedly murdered the 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence in Lagos. Following the murder, Nnayereugo fled Nigeria and attempted to mislead investigators by posting a false online confession video. However, his flight did not go unnoticed.

An INTERPOL Red Notice was issued after he was declared wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in October 2023. Nnayereugo was initially arrested in Sierra Leone under a false identity in October 2023 but managed to escape during a prison break. Subsequent investigations tracked his movements across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, where he eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, in January 2025 under the alias “TOURE ABDOULAYE.”

In February 2025, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in partnership with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity using advanced biometrics, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities. His extradition was then approved by the Qatari government, culminating in his return to Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the international collaboration that led to Nnayereugo’s capture and expressed gratitude to the Qatari authorities, the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar, and INTERPOL for their critical role in securing the fugitive’s return. The IGP assured Nigerians that the police would ensure diligent prosecution of Nnayereugo as part of its commitment to justice and the safety of the public.
