Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he and his wife, Chioma, are taking a break from having more children to focus on family stability and Chioma’s rising entrepreneurial ambitions.
Speaking on a recent episode of Ride Along With Darryl, which went viral over the weekend, Davido explained that while they cherish their growing family, expanding it isn’t on the table right now.
“I don’t want more children now. Me and my wife are taking a break. She needs to get out to work. She wants to do a lot of things like opening her restaurant and launching her spices. I feel she deserves a couple of years off after having three kids,” he said.
Davido, who is currently a father to five children from different relationships, shares his first daughter, Imade, with Sophia Momodu; his second daughter, Hailey, with Amanda; his late son, Ifeanyi, and a set of twins (a boy and a girl born in 2023) with his wife, Chioma Rowland. The identity of the mother of his alleged fifth child, Dawson, remains unconfirmed publicly, though the child is widely reported to be his.
Chioma, who recently welcomed twins barely a year after the heartbreaking loss of their son Ifeanyi in a drowning incident, is now channeling her energy into launching her own spice brand and potentially a restaurant business.
“She is here mostly now, so I think she is going to open something here first, both in Nigeria and here [abroad], but she wants to open something here first. The main thing is the spices for now. Get the spices in some major stores worldwide, both in Africa and diaspora, everywhere, ’cause her food tastes amazing,” Davido said.
