Controversial Nigerian singer, Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded in the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, after failing to meet the stringent bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court on Monday.
Portable appeared in court following his arraignment on charges of defamation of character brought against him by veteran Fuji musician Akorede Saheed, widely known as Saheed Osupa. The court granted the singer bail in the sum of ₦1 million, but attached conditions he has so far been unable to fulfill.
Among the conditions, the court mandated that one of the two sureties must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). The second surety must own landed property in a Government Reserved Area within Ilorin, with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.
As Portable was unable to meet these conditions immediately, he was ordered into remand custody at Oke Kura Correctional Centre pending further developments in the case.
