At least 47 people have been confirmed dead following a brutal night attack on Zike and Kimakpa communities in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State. The deadly assault occurred around 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
The National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Danjuma Dickson Auta, confirmed the incident on Monday in Jos, lamenting the rising toll of violence in the region. Several others were reportedly injured during the attack, with homes and properties also destroyed.
This fresh massacre comes just over a week after a similar onslaught in Bokkos LGA claimed 52 lives, fueling renewed fears over the state’s spiraling security crisis.
The Plateau State Police Command is yet to officially respond to the latest killings as of the time of this report.
Authorities have previously raised alarm over the alleged occupation of vulnerable communities by armed militias, a trend believed to be intensifying the frequency and brutality of such attacks.
Calls for decisive government action continue to grow louder, as residents across Plateau State reel from the relentless wave of bloodshed.
