In a remarkable academic feat, twin brothers from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Ibadan (UI), have graduated with identical first-class degrees, both achieving a CGPA of 3.94 out of a possible 4.00.
Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew not only emerged as the best graduating students in their department, but also clinched the title of overall best in the Faculty of Technology for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Matthias took to social media on Wednesday to share the news, which has since garnered admiration across the academic community and beyond.
The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) formally recognized the duo’s exceptional performance and leadership. While Matthias served as the Honourable Speaker of the 11th Assembly of the University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC), Matthew held the position of SEEEES-UI President during the same academic session.
Their academic journey showcased consistent excellence, with both maintaining stellar results from their first year through to final year. Notably, their CGPAs progressed in tandem, reflecting a rare blend of determination, intelligence, and discipline.
At 100 level, Matthias and Matthew had CGPAs of 3.84 and 3.89 respectively. This improved over the years, with the final year results aligning perfectly at 3.94.
