Oyo Govt Begins ₦264 Million Compensation for Property Owners Affected by Ibadan Circular Road

The Oyo State Government has commenced the disbursement of ₦264 million in compensation to property owners affected by the Senator Rasheed Adewolu Circular Road project in Ibadan.

The first batch of compensation was officially presented on Thursday at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the compensation to acknowledge the sacrifices made by property owners along the road corridor.

According to him, the government conducted a thorough identification and verification exercise before valuing the properties affected by the construction. The ₦264 million covers the first phase of the compensation plan.

“We understand the impact of this project on residents, and Governor Makinde believes it is only fair to compensate those affected,” the Commissioner said. “This road will significantly boost the state’s infrastructure and economy.”

He further encouraged property owners with genuine documents to approach the Ministry to ensure they receive their entitlements.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Salawu Abiola, commended the governor for his commitment and empathy, describing the compensation as timely and just.

The Ibadan Circular Road is one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Makinde administration, expected to enhance connectivity and ease traffic within the metropolis.
