Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya, has revealed how a divine instruction to keep his dreadlocks led to a powerful moment of healing and affirmation for a woman who traveled from Zimbabwe after seeing him in a prophetic vision.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Pastor Odukoya recounted that before assuming his pastoral role, he had prayed about whether to cut his hair. He said God clearly instructed him not to. To confirm, he asked his sister, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, to pray as well—without sharing what he heard. She came back with the same message: “Don’t cut your hair.”
Years later, the significance of that instruction became clear. A woman flew from Zimbabwe just to attend his church and shared a story that stunned the pastor and his congregation. According to her, in 2016, during Thanksgiving in New York, she had a vivid vision of a man with dreadlocks holding a flaming sword that destroyed a symbolic burden she was carrying.
“She didn’t know I existed then,” Odukoya said. “But fast forward to 2025, she saw one of my sermons on YouTube and screamed. I was the man from the vision.”
The woman, who had gone through immense personal loss—including a painful divorce and her mother’s death—said the encounter gave her clarity, comfort, and divine direction.
Reflecting on the story, Odukoya emphasized the divine precision of God’s plan:
“If I had cut my hair, she wouldn’t have recognized me. God told me to keep it, not just for me—but for someone He knew would need that sign nearly a decade later.”
