Kogi Women Protest Naked as Terror Grips Community

Dozens of women in Oke-Ere, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, took to the streets on Wednesday in a dramatic protest against the growing wave of insecurity in their community.

The protesters, many of whom were elderly and half-naked, marched through the town in anguish, chanting in their local dialect while wielding sticks and palm fronds. In a video obtained by PUNCH Online, the women lamented the continued attacks, kidnappings, and killings plaguing their area.

The emotional protest is in response to a series of violent incidents, including a March attack along the Ayere-Kabba Expressway, where three individuals were kidnapped and four others injured. The injured victims were rushed to St. John’s Hospital in Kabba.

The women called on the state and federal governments, as well as security agencies, to take immediate action and bring an end to the “endless reign of terror” in the area.

“We can no longer sleep with our eyes closed. Every day, it’s either someone is kidnapped or killed,” one of the protesters cried out.
