Four prominent Nigerian gospel ministers, including the well-known Evangelist Ayodeji David, popularly known as Kekere Jesu, tragically lost their lives in a devastating motor accident along the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road in Ogun State on April 5, 2025. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, which also claimed over 24 lives in total, when the vehicle carrying the ministers collided with another.
The deceased have been identified as Evangelist Ayodeji Kekerejesu, Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin, and Opeyemi Adesina. The crash occurred due to overspeeding and poor visibility on the highway, according to initial investigations.
Kekere Jesu, famous for his street evangelism and active presence on social media, was reportedly en route to a ministry assignment when the fatal crash occurred. Tributes have poured in from his followers, church members, and colleagues, who have described him as a passionate and dedicated servant of God.
Prominent figures from the gospel community, including Prophet Sam Olu Alo, founder of the Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain International Ministry, expressed their shock on social media, paying tribute to Kekere Jesu. The tragic news has left many devastated, as the gospel minister was seen as a beacon of hope, particularly for youth and rural communities.
As condolences continue to flood in, the families of the deceased and their communities are left grappling with the sudden and tragic loss. The FRSC and local authorities are continuing investigations into the full circumstances of the accident.
