Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has disclosed that marriage is not in the picture for her relationship with music executive Paul Okoye, popularly known as Paulo.
Speaking on a recent episode of Your View on TVC, the actress, who is currently preparing for her daughter Priscilla’s wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, explained that both she and Paulo are comfortable with their non-traditional arrangement.
“We don’t want marriage,” she said firmly, emphasizing that their relationship is rooted in companionship and mutual respect rather than societal expectations.
Ojo elaborated on how the relationship functions, citing her demanding work schedule and need for personal space. “There are times when I want to be alone, and I just pack my bags and return to my house. We never fight over that because he understands,” she said, praising Paulo’s supportiveness.
The pair made their relationship public on December 21, 2022—Ojo’s 45th birthday—when she posted a romantic video montage of their time together. Since then, they’ve maintained a public yet pressure-free romance. In a playful 2023 interview, Paulo even joked about how Iyabo “invaded his space” and “snatched him” from his many side chics.
Ojo also made it clear that their union isn’t aimed at expanding their families, as both already have two children each from previous relationships. Instead, she described their bond as one built on enjoyment, mutual freedom, and emotional maturity.
