Nigerian Nurse Leaves U.S. Job for Fulfilment, Says ‘Money Isn’t Everything

Judith Okoli, a Nigerian nurse who once practiced in the United States, has returned to Nigeria in search of deeper fulfilment. While her move has sparked debate amid a wave of Nigerians emigrating for better opportunities, Okoli insists that “money is not everything.”

In a video shared online, she explained in Pidgin English that her decision wasn’t impulsive but based on reflection about what truly matters in life — peace of mind, family, and quality relationships. “Someone can make N100 but be miserable… Another person makes N50 and is happy,” she said.

She also highlighted how the pursuit of foreign dreams has scattered families across the globe. “Six siblings haven’t seen each other in three years — all in the name of better life,” she noted.

Okoli’s story has reignited conversations around the true cost of migration, purpose, and what it really means to live well.
