I Still Maintain My Respect For Tope Alabi—Liz Anjorin

Controversial Actress and businesswoman Liz Anjorin has expressed respect for veteran gospel singer Tope Alabi, despite the latter’s decision to shun a surprise birthday event organized for her. Anjorin, in an interview with Sunday Scoop, maintained that the situation would not affect her admiration for Alabi. She stated, “I have a lot of projects I am working on for me to be dwelling on what my sister (Alabi) has done. It has nothing to do with my personal life. People that hold grudges would not be able to move on and be productive. Do you think because she did not honour me yesterday, I will not greet her when I see her? I will still greet her with my two knees on the floor. Whatever she has done is between her and God.”

The controversy erupted on Friday after Alabi declined to come down from her car for a surprise performance upon discovering that the celebrant was Anjorin. Fans of Anjorin in the Diaspora had secured Alabi’s services for the event, paying N2.5m, which Alabi subsequently returned.

Anjorin clarified that she has never had issues with Alabi, stating, “I have been to her concert before and I didn’t have an issue with her. I like Aunty Tope, she is my very good sister. What happened yesterday might have even been a mistake. We are human beings and nobody can tell what happened except her.” She further explained that the conflict was not exactly between her and Alabi, but rather with the individuals who contracted Alabi for the event.

When contacted for comment, Alabi refused to speak about the incident and abruptly hung up the call.
