Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has dared Senate President Godswill Akpabio to proceed with legal action following the death threat allegations she made against him.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan addressed reports claiming Akpabio intends to sue her for the allegations she leveled against him. She responded, “I am hearing that the Senate President wants to sue me for that, I will tell him to go ahead. We will meet and cross that bridge,” she stated confidently.
The controversy began earlier this week when Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accused Akpabio of plotting her recall and assassination. During a rally in Ihima, Kogi Central, the senator claimed that Akpabio enlisted the help of Kogi State’s former governor, Yahaya Bello, to orchestrate her removal from office.
Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio first approached Usman Ododo, but Ododo reportedly declined, citing public support for the senator. Dissatisfied, Akpabio allegedly turned to Bello, offering financial backing for both her recall and her assassination. The lawmaker claimed that Akpabio specifically instructed Bello to carry out the killing outside Abuja to make it appear as though it was carried out by the people of Kogi State.
Despite the gravity of her claims, Akpoti-Uduaghan was asked if she could provide evidence to substantiate the allegations. She replied, “If you are doubting the veracity of the killing, what about the recall that we just experienced? Let us get to that bridge.”
The senator also revealed that the police had been notified about the threat but did not disclose further details about the investigation. As the controversy continues, Akpoti-Uduaghan remains defiant, challenging Akpabio to take legal action as she stands by her claims.
